Joe Biden's close aides have carefully shielded him from people inside and outside the White House since the beginning of his presidency.

That story above really paints a different picture of Biden's wife, who the media has mostly given very positive coverage to until now.
I don't think Biden is completely brain dead but it does look like his wife and close advisors hid the extent of his decline from the public and even from the rest of the White House.
I think establishment Democrats are in denial right now that they can just stay the course. I predict what's going to happen is that Biden will go out and try to do damage control for the debate, but during his attempt at damage control he'll have another meltdown. At that point the pressure to drop out will be overwhelming.
- jill runs the show ... pretty kool i sayneverscared

- It hasn't made a difference in the polls. People are locked in, both candidates suck. Probably the only thing the majority can agree on.formed
- how very trump of you. trump sucks, biden is not ideal. however, biden's results continue to be impressive whiel trump continues to griftimbecile
- willful ignorance spinkled with a bit of ant-american sentiment makes a trump voter feel empowered. a shame they don't see the hypocrisy their hate represents.imbecile
- "fuck anyone different than me" is a wild statement from someone who quotes "united we stand, divided we fall". obviously the irony is lost on them.imbecile
- he passed more policies to help the working class, hey? Than any president hey? Good grief this is stupid.nb
- imbecile continues to mald because of the cash he spunked on that hilarious Lincoln Project con job. Enjoy your special pencil and eraser set, you mug.face_melter
- Biden spent more money than FDR did on the New Deal on renewable energy investments. So that isn't a small thing and it was worth electing him for that reason.yuekit
- However, working class aren't really going to perceive that as helping them, even if it does in the long run. Americans can be very superficial and vote basedyuekit
- only on the short-term economic conditions.yuekit
- living at home with his mom, sister, and sneakers, face_melter thinks he knows how i spend my money / vote? still as stupid as ever.imbecile

So I understand, the scotus ruling makes it so that Biden can now take extreme, pro-active actions on an actor(s) who could be perceived as national-security risks and suffer no personal consequences?
- I’m not sure, but if you’re at all excited about this, you are part of the problemnb
- all excited? lol relax it’s a questionprophetone
- pre-emptively do it before shit for brains Trump tries to do it_niko
- how does anyone other than scotus contribute to this problem, not even Biden can influence its outcomeprophetone
- and honestly what's the worst that can happen to Biden if he assassinates the big orange turd? at best nothing since he's now immune as per the SCOTUS_niko
- that is the problem hereprophetone
- ...ruling and at worst the prosecute him but he'll kick the bucket before it ever goes to trial. So go for it, fuck these idiots passing these fucked up laws._niko
- The problem here is Biden won't use this to expand / reform SCOTUS. Dems are going to have to learn to fight dirty or we're all fucked.garbage
- Old people don't need to be in politics at all. RBG should have stepped down in the Obama admin, fuck her pride.garbage
- Biden should have acknowledged he's not capable of a second term, fuck his pride.garbage
- America is beyond repair.utopian
- HAL90011
Biden should do illegal things just to mess up with that new immunity decision
that country is getting more fucked by the day
- yuekit1
The world is getting more fucked up with the far right surging everywhere...Germany, France, USA etc...and Biden just doesn't look up to the task.
One of Biden's former top advisors described him (at a slightly younger point in his life) as someone who is brilliant and experienced, but also arrogant and who doesn't follow through and phones it in a lot of the time. And unfortunately that does seem like the reality. He's had some big wins but just as many disasters.
Biden is also an institutionalist so the chance of him doing anything radical very low. He has spoken out against the idea of expanding the Supreme Court for instance, which some Democrats have endorsed.

This might be the best candidacy IMO...Whitmer/Warnock.
Then go all in on the abortion rights issue that has been a winner for Democrats in recent elections. A woman will be much better at making the case than geriatric Biden who opposed reproductive rights in the past.
Gretchen Whitmer locks down Michigan, Raphael Warnock gives a good chance of winning Georgia, and that's basically the election. Warnock being a pastor (he was lead pastor at MLK's former church) is also an advantage since so much of the black voter turnout is done through churches.
- Ummm... Ok, but dems are f***ed, They don't have enough time to remove Joe from the candidacy and raise the alternativeOBBTKN
- They do have time. Biden isn't the official candidate yet, that happens at the convention seven weeks from now.yuekit
- Some people in the party are trying to make it sound impossible because they want to keep Biden (including those personally invested in his campaign).yuekit
- Thought the first pic was Kaitlyn Jennernb
- Not that that matters. But I was very confused for a secondnb
- lol, no the current governor of Michigan.yuekit
- But it may end up being Kamala Harris due to the legal and financial issues involved.yuekit
- whatthefunk2
- America is FuckedHAL9001
- Cool, maybe give us a democratic candidate that isn’t one missed-nap away from keeling over deadnb
- If you don’t want bad judges, why are you supporting a candidate that can’t win? Don’t blame voters. They didn’t pick the candidate.nb
- didn't you say the same thing last election?!? Dems would vote for 99 year old Carter in a wheelchair over Trump, you get this right?!?whatthefunk
- Yeah but the polls are much worse this time whatthefunk, that's why people are freaking out.yuekit
- Compare 2020:
https://i.imgur.com/…yuekit - 2024:
https://i.imgur.com/…yuekit - And the numbers in the swing states:
https://i.imgur.com/…yuekit - Now admittedly Biden is not THAT far behind but the problem he's been trailing Trump for most of the past year.yuekit
- If his team can't figure out how to turn things around in a year, are they going to do it in a few months?yuekit

Joe Bye-den
Democrats in Congress begin openly calling for Biden to drop out
- nb0
NYT reporting today that Biden is or was “weighing” whether or not to stay in the race.
Whitehouse spokesperson Bates said this is “absolutely false.” Assume for a moment that we believe Bates isn’t lying, which he probably shouldn’t be right now. This means that Biden is not even considering dropping out.
Not even considering it. Even if he’s putting democracy at risk. Even though he’s putting the future of the Supreme Court at grave risk. Bates is saying that Biden is not interested in even considering what might be right for the country.
So please stop with these fucking juvenile pro-Biden arguments about how it’s “not about Biden, it’s about the Supreme Court appointees” or how “we must do anything to stop Trump.”
Because Biden himself wouldn’t do that.
I’m telling you that all these people in DC care about is power. Biden’s people want him there (sleeping 20 hrs per day) so that they have more power. Other people want him out so they have more power. Kamala is pissed because she wants power.
Biden will risk the SC and risk letting Trump derail democracy for himself.
THIS IS WHY I CARE WHO THE CANDIDATE IS. IT FUCKING MATTERS!
- No one ever says they're considering dropping out until they're announcing that they're dropping out. It's bad for fundraising.sarahfailin
- Yeah I believe the original story....of course they deny it.yuekit
- Note that he said the Biden is not even weighing it as an option. So yes maybe he’s lying. But if he isn’t, it means Biden is a piece of shit.nb

- I think changing the candidate checks a lot of boxes. Age baggage is gone, angst over Gaza gone, and then whoever it is will be able to beat Trump in debate.mathinc
- Yeah where's the idea they would definitely lose coming from? Trump is also very unpopular.yuekit
- Biden will get trounced if kept. The more they hide him the more people will bail— the more he shows his age people will bail. They need someone else ASAP.PonyBoy
- looking from afar, surely they have to change? New person has no baggage, no record to pick apart, no stupid Trump nickname. plus a working mind and body.Fax_Benson
- anybody centrish, fresh-faced and reasonably intelligent should walk it. The lack of time left just means there's less chance an offspring can do a crime.Fax_Benson
- The degree of support for Biden is a little surprising to me. I always just supported him pragmatically to defeat Trump and get the climate change legislation.yuekit
- If he's replaced, it needs to be someone everyone knows already (Newsom, Obama, etc.) . A no-name, like everyone suggested so far, will die a quick death.formed
- If this were a year ago there would be time for people to learn, but there is no time now. The D's would be asking people to vote blindly.formed

- Polls are sold to feed news cycle and sell ads. They are very rarely indicative of the actual election.nb

“Trump and Biden prove that the ego is one of the last things to die.”
