Some of you need to get over yourselves.
He's only applying for Senior Designer. If he likes the agency and wants the job, it's probably worth investing a few days as a trial. He should be paid, but the reward is greater than 2 days pay.
- so when do you start given yourself respect?doesnotexist
- after you've sacrificed yourself?doesnotexist
- christ man, remind me never to hire you for any work2002

Do you possess significant financial industry experience, I've seen a lot of financial institutions struggling to find designers.
I had a place ask me to come in for a day, paid, and then after that day they asked me to work on a project, paid. After the day in the office I decided that it wasn't a great cultural fit and passed on the role. Remember, these are two way streets and perhaps this is a great opportunity to realize what their culture is like.
- btw did you get out of design?2002
- Nope, I'm a UX Manager now. Product focused no production...great transition...whatthefunk

Decided not to take the 1st offer.
The second ad agency the contacted me later decided to move the position to Chicago so I also declined to that one.The search continues.

I didn't heed my own advice during an interview earlier in the week. I was interviewing for a position and I'm in a room being interviewed by a PM and Mobile Dev Manager. The Dev Manager picks up his phone, shows me the screen asks how I would solve a specific problem they're having with mobile. Without thinking I take his phone and throw it out the window. JK. Ok, I rattled off two potential solutions thinking he's just getting a sense for how quick I can be on my feet, and he writes them down in his notebook. Then he goes to another screen and asks a similar question. Giving him the benefit of the doubt I answer, but this time I only give him one solution. He writes it down and brings up another screen. At this point I kind of start to smile and lean back in my chair. He starts to bring up another screen and I politely say "I have a few questions for you guys if you don't mind me asking."
Can't believe I have them so much info like that.

So... Are we celebrating hektor??

For the first offer the money was way better, but the work and the creative environment was not giving me good vibes. I'll just continue with my search.

having been on both sides of the interviewing desk i can't imagine how anyone would have the audacity to request a 'working interview'.
maybe it's different in the design world - i don't know, but as an outsider my perspective is if their work/portfolio is good and they respond well to my open-ended questions about their work history and passion for their work and their references pan out, what else is there???
that seems very demeaning to me and nothing personal to anyone who's done it - again, not in your industry - but it makes you look like a desperate chump to jump through such ridiculous hoops like that!

The meeting went great, I guess the working part was pretty much just giving my opinion in a couple of posters they are pitching next week.
They asked me to come in again on Tuesday to talk business.- That's more like it. What I thought it might be like.monospaced
