Unbeknownst to me, my partner bought our daughter crafting scissors today and gave them to her to play with. Unbeknownst to my partner, my daughter had been learning about hairdressing and haircuts at nursery today, so had spent the afternoon cutting pieces of paper and spaghetti in imaginative hairdresser play.

I, busy cooking in the kitchen, deferred a couple of curious calls from my daughter in the living room, and when I finally got around to attending to her, mere minutes later, guess what the little fucker had done?

Thankfully it's only a portion of a lock, but fucking hell. I went from instant panic-rage because a whole slew of possibilities opened out in front of me, but thankfully the damage was minimal and ultimately, laughable. Just a wee portion of her hair.

    Fucking hell.

Really liked the NA beers i had on our NZ trip, so i ordered some here in the states. I hope they hold up to their kiwi counterparts

    • I've tried every NA i could find out there during January and believe it or not - Bud Zero resembles the most what I desire in a simple lager beer.dasohr
    • What I am saying it tastes equally pissy as the regular bud, so there's little expectation.dasohr
    • But always looking for recommendations, so LMK what you like!dasohr
    • Athletic Brewing has a good Lite beer that i've enjoyed. Haven't tried the others yet though.capn_ron

What is a good salary for full-time lead brand designer of a startup with 20 people on staff with only 2 other designers who handle ui/ux?

Report to CEO and freelance creative director. No one working below, but basically act as own department.

The other day my dog jumped over a large bed of rocks about 10 feet across. i thought to myself at the time, "I hope she doesn't figure out she can jump high". Well, yesterday she lept 12-15 feet over a creek then looked back at me me like "what are you waiting for?" After laughing and convincing her to come back, she made the jump with no problem. Shit.

    • Hehh, you got something you can work on :)sted

Last week I was contacted to help develop a pretty interesting project involving an app, fine art gallery and bar. It turns out that they will have a bonafide speakeasy with a secret door.

"Ya know, like in a James Bond movie," she said with a French accent.

Apparently it's an invite-only private club. Gotta know the password. In this case the password is a logo printed on the spine of a book. So I've been working on some illuminati inspired ideas for one direction :-)

4 days for replacing the screen in my phone.

On monday, the smart guy, put on a broken glass screen on it.

    "Ey, this is broken, man..."

    "No, no broken, it's glue"

    "No glue, it's broken"

"Aww... I see, yes, is broken... You can get it now for €10 less..."

"No, put on it a new shinny screen, man, I'm paying for this"

    "Ok, no problem"

I've had the worst luck with developers. Is it just me?

I'll spare you the graveyard of details. But for sure I pay their rate and don't ask for ridiculous deadlines. "I set them up for success!"

I think the only solution is to work with a local dev house. For now though, l have a project that needs to start. Another crap shoot.

    • Devs from India? Did'nt worked with one from there in 15 years. Follow the locals route if you can. Good luck!!OBBTKN

As I left Sainsbury's earlier this evening, my daughter was fast asleep in one arm, and i had a heavy bag of shopping in the other. A few steps outside the store, I see a pack on the floor that I get the impression has just been dropped. I see a way in front of me two trundling ladies with multiple overstuffed bags of shopping, which look very much like might've accidentally spilt some...

...as heavily overwearied as I am by dead-weight sleeping child and shopping, our hero bends down and picks up from the floor a fresh-looking multipack of cheesestrings. I look up, and see the two women continuing to trundle on, so march onwards. I eventually catch up with them and, as much exasperated as worrying them with my intrusion, I ask if they've dropped a packet of seemingly fresh-looking cheesestrings.

Gentle people, they had not. They reacted as any normal person might, confronted with this non-sensical proposition. I was just a sweaty nutter waving a bag of over-processed milk product at their gentle conduct into the night.

Given I had no free hands, and was near home, I sallied on, Cheesestrings in hand, to deal with later.

Pre-amble over: I have a multi-pack of cheesestrings I found on the floor outside a local supermarket. Dear people of QBN, are they ok to eat? Not for the kid, of course. For me.

I observe young people have a somewhat healthier relationship with their phones than a few years ago.

Having a conversation with a 19-year old in 2010 was a bit of a pain. Like, you felt you had 40% of their attention.

I've been pleasantly surprised lately, with people the same age being noticeably more focused and less phone obsessed. And a friend of mine's 15-year old son described looking at your phone all the time as being "so cringe" (yes, Danish teenagers say "cringe" now).

    A good development, IMO
