Participated in the "DHL relay run" twice this week. Companies sign up and employees run 5 km before handing the baton of to the next person for a total of five runs per team. All while barbecues are cooking and lots of beers are drunk.
Got the times of 28:34 Tuesday and 28:05 yesterday (Thursday), nowhere near the fastest, but not the slowest either.
Both times at the 3 km mark I felt like a stupid fool for signing up though :D

Whats the link to that nifty tool for seeing your QBN stats, like most used thread etc?

- What's this awesome thing?
https://panopticon.p…YakuZoku - @palimpsest the one I'm talking about generated this colorful circle with all the stats. Not sure what to do with this?jagara
- A circle? I've never done one myself.
Good luck!palimpsest

What an absolute scam by the promoter of the Dublin Oasis gigs - increasing the ticket price as tickets get more scarce.
Glad I wasn’t some fan in the panic to secure tickets.
- Ticketmaster "dynamic pricing" might be the culprit rather than the promoter. Price increased from £135 to £355 for the same ticket in the UK too.mort_

I have lived in the flightpaths of Frankfurt International (7 years), Heathrow (3 years) and Suvarnabhumi Bangkok (6 years). It seemed I always ended up near a major airport. Now I have moved into my forever home with a terrace view of thousands of flights per day: storks, cranes, cormorants, hawks, pigeons, swallows, fireflies, mantisses and all kind of other bugs. So it's like another type of airport. Just a thought... from smoking too much weed, which is also totally legal here at the moment lol

If anyone was/is interested in the QBN Sticker Exchange, the bugs (seem to) have been worked out of signup. https://www.qbn.com/reply/412878…

Everyone has different views and upbringings, but being “conservative” is just old fashioned.
Why doesn’t everyone strive to be progressive in theory?
Why is it acceptable for people to call themselves conservative?
- I think the term 'conservative' should be retired anyway, in favour of the more common use of 'reactionary' (which is entirely more accurate.)Continuity
- Conservatives are resistant to change in order to preserve power and influence, that's what makes them conservatives.whatthefunk
- Right. But then, let's imagine a society where progressives finally got everything in place as it should be, and the right wing comes along wanting to ...Continuity
- ... change it all, and the progressives don't want that.
By definition, those progressives become conservatives.Continuity - Yes this is common. You haven’t noticed? Young progressives often become old conservatives.nb
- You know “ok boomer?” Well Boomers were hippies. The extreme counterculture progressives of the 1960s are now conservatives.nb
- Conservative was supposed to be economic primarily, I thought.monospaced
- No not really. Small-c conservative just means, “I think the old ways were better” or “I prefer the status quo over change”nb
- Cons love change when it concentrates or expands power in the hands of the few (who usually already have it).i_monk
- If there were no conservatives, you would have to invent them so you could have a proper discussion about how to govern in an imperfect world.monNom
- When either side gets everything they want (as in a totalitarian regime) you rapidly descend into awful places.monNom
- Having some alternative points of view is a good thing, as everyone has imperfect information and different focuses/issues which are important to them.monNom
- We need at least 2 parties, Dems wasn't always the better of 2 evils, back in the day Dems wanted to expand slavery and Republicans opposed itYakuZoku
- A real third party is what we need, but the current 2 corrupt parties will never let that happenYakuZoku
- You think you’re all progressives? Tell me how much you love today’s rap.
Check and mate boomers!_niko - Because some people think that certain traditional societal institutions need to stay the same, ie be conserved?jagara
- Conservative thinking is necessary in order to keep balance between continuous development and the consequences it causes.sted
- without conservation, we would destroy the chances of future generations.sted
- Yep, QBN is quickly becoming the Quirky Boomer Networknb
- All generations go through this. Soon we’ll have some kind of meme like “ok, Gen X.” Then, “ok millennial”.nb
- Ageism is so progressive.i_monk

I was by myself on my mom’s back porch about an hour ago. I was smoking a little weed and normally when I do that I’m off the porch wandering her property... pretty happy that I wasn’t tonight and was simply standing on her raised porch:
A Momma Moose and her 2 calves stampeded into the backyard... then stopped and proceeded to eat the leaves off a tree a mere 15 feet from me for the next 30 mins.

Redesigning and rebuilding my photo site because WP crashed somehow and I can't get it running again. It's not so bad... I'd been wanting to update it for a while and cull things down.
In any event, previously, photo sets were just vertical scrolling sets of photos. Simple, typical. Had no problems with it.
Thinking about doing something that's just a single-image scroller via arrows and wondering if you guys have any preference for one approach vs the other. I'm really indifferent to how I do it, but lean towards the single-image format because of the focus it puts on one image, rather than just scrolling vertically rapidly.
Thoughts?
- You've got a point about viewing a single image at a time. I think that makes them individually more impactful...monNom
- However, scrolling a long page with lazy-loading is just so much easier for passive consumption. I would think you'd get better engagement from that approach.monNom
- Maybe try both and see what works for you?
A/B test itmonNom - Thanks, that's a good idea. I'm preloading the images in the scroller, but I get your point.mg33
- I'm in the middle of re-designing mine, too, going back to Concrete from too many years of WP, and I'm going with single long page per project.Continuity

Paris.
What neighborhood is best to stay in?
- Lots in Spain.OBBTKN

Sitting here outputting a final press pdf from Indesign for a marketing piece... there are two coffee mugs on my desk. One freshly-made 45 mins ago, one that's been sitting here since a at least few days ago... Guess which one I just grabbed and took a nice big, healthy swig out of and immediately spit back into mug questioning my life.

I seem to have manifested a couple of things that freaked me out recently.
No 1. My Wedding ring. Moved home about 6 years ago and hadn't seen my wedding ring since. One day I was thinking to myself to go through all boxes in the garage (again) to doublecheck it isn't there.
A couple of days later I'm in a drawer in a chest of drawers we got about 3 years ago. Ta-daa ... my wedding ring!No 2. I'm faffing about on Vinted looking for gear for skiing. The thought of Shamen t-shirts I used to have in the 90s popped into my head so search on vinted. See that there's one for a few hundred £. I chuckle to myself.
The next day my parents show up with a bag of clothes. In it is two Shamen t-shirts ~1991 and a KLF FTM t-shirt from 1999.Now I am currently focussing all my energies on picturing a suitcase with £1m in it....
...wish me luck!
