The thing about abortion law is when talking about it there isn't much discussion involved on popular ideas of its. Specifically when does a fetus/child gain the moral rights we specify by law for humans. The law is pretty subjective regarding rights. Children don't have the same right's as adults, and different rights for those not based on age but guardianship. Different cultures different age rights all around.

What should be acceptable? Chime in on base and special cases on the notes. Lets see if we get disapproval of ideas amongst supporters of abortion.

Im a bit old school in and animalistic in the nature of it. Terms, years, are all bit arbitrary amongst the unaware, but even in society there are those who are a certain age and yet still unaware... It's a tough one. Our moral rights are largely made up based on certain rules and criteria, but at the end of the day many things fall into a gray area were things are not so black and white as such subjects of the bill of rights (which also is widely still contested on perception and persepective)

Considering it hardly effects society I'm far more open to parents choices with less lines in the sand. Also not a huge priority for me on gov rulings. I think cutting funding of planned parenthood with the large lobbying base and allowing over the counter prescriptions (planned parenthood doesnt like). I think that is a bigger thing that is worth getting behind for majority of people and "rights" and responsibility. Let idiots in alabama have their way. Fund clinics on the border at a profit. Shits like fireworks on reservations. all new kinds of markets which can still serve the people. It's a shame but society is somewhat of a compromise on deciding the grays areas. This case a bit more like the inconvenience and tax of purchasing a silencer, or needing to load more clips at the range.

    • See above. The wealthy will always be able to travel for abortions. Poor won't be able to. PP is for easy access and education, they are wonderful.formed

the abortion laws aren't to actually prevent abortion, but to perpetuate a cycle of debt.

even if a poor child makes it through unyielding circumstances to, say, get in to college, short of having a full ride they're also going to be stuck paying for the loans - becoming a cog in a system of reliable consumption and profit for the people who are funding these sorts of laws.

if a child doesn't make it to college, they'll be service workers at best or populations for an increasingly privatized prison state, allowing again these right wingers to profit.

make no mistake: none of this is about life, or even caring one way or another about abortion. it's a perpetuation of economic servitude and the slave-fueled backbone of capitalism. these men are modern tyrants, thieves and pillagers and they will induce violence both existential and physical on the world until action beyond whining on television / the internet is taken to fight back.

(said action doesn't need to be the guillotine - it could be fiscal or union-oriented in abandoning certain sectors of capitalism, but even then there are towns with literally no option other than to work at and shop at a wal-mart. the guillotine will likely come once this tipping point is reached, though.)

    • maybe that but definitely about controlling women and their bodies.lowimpakt
    • @lowimpakt i think that's the line they draw for the debate to keep it about social mores and not long-term benefits.colin_s
    • if you create a narrative around prejudice you can keep the debate opinion based and the people divided. immigration, gun reform, this.colin_s
    • the same people will profit from all of it, and democrats are almost as complicit, legislators in general and the industries that fund them.colin_s
    • tl:dr - kill poor people?Gnash
    • or, more like make more of them ... for profit?monospaced
    • Ah, so DEM = kill the poor, GOP = exploit the poor, I get it.Gnash
    • Fantastic perspective colin_s. It's not all about this, but I certainly feel there's a decent undercurrent of these motivations.mg33
    • @Gnash, dems aren't about killing the poor, they're about giving women the choice to abort a fetus, to avoid real problems and threatsmonospaced
    • it's been shown already that restricting abortions contributes to the poverty base and causes a lot of unwanted children, a vicious cyclemonospaced
    • I think another use for fighting over abortion is to win votes in politics. That's been proven time and time again.monospaced
    • ah, ok. the 'choice' to kill the poor before they become bigger problemsGnash
    • to be clear, i think this bill is ridiculous, and women should have autonomy over their own bodies. i just don't like the sugar coat. call it what it is.Gnash
    • I feel like we're in agreement though. Yeah, the choice is often to ensure a better life for herself or the child. That much is obvious. Nobody likes doing it!monospaced
    • the idea that aborting a fetus is killing a baby is totally debatable, too, and therefore pro choice isn't just sugar coatingmonospaced
    • not a better life for the child, just not a life.Gnash
    • it s debatable, but in semantics only. everybody knows what's actually happening.Gnash
    • and you're right it sucks, but I do believe that the rhetoric around this issue leads many to believe that it's a benign procedure, when it's anything butGnash
    • In many cases, it is to prevent a horrible, short, agonizing life for a child, actually. Some argue some life is better than none, but they are being subjectivemonospaced
    • "what's actually happening" is a fetus is being terminated, and the debate is whether it is unethical. I wouldn't call it murder, though.monospaced
    • I wouldn't even call an early term fetus a child yet. Until later term, it's mostly a parasite without proper brain function or consciousnessmonospaced
    • Do you have children? If so, did you face the possibility of a real complication during pregnancy, or discuss abortion in a real scenario?monospaced
    • i do have kids. plus i've lost one to a miscarriage, and lost another to an ectopic pregnancy.Gnash
    • when you want them, they are anything but a brainless parasiteGnash
    • however, my wife and I disagreed on whether to keep the pregnancy if test showed he/she had a condition like downs s.Gnash
    • regardless, I don't believe that the majority of abortions are executed because of health complications.Gnash
    • ha "it's a perpetuation of economic servitude and the slave-fueled backbone of capitalism"
      ********
    • You ever actually question voter base enslavement by certain parties?
      ********
    • to run people into the ground and offer solutions... its a great method. does original sin ring a bell?
      ********
    • And how would free enterprise allow certain people to be oppressed being free. most of what you describe seems to be derived of politics and left leaning
      ********
    • theres a lot you need to think about since its quite hypocritical in what i believe is what you would like to see as "end game"
      ********
    • another nonsensical, tangential rantmonospaced
