BUMP!
OK I am starting this today. Anyone currently on it?
I don't own a whole set of dumbells though. Just some random ones, The heaviest I have are a couple 20 pounders.
- jfletcher0
I'm still on it. Recently went back to it after doing some other stuff (Jiu-jitsu training). Still love it, still kicks my ass. I think there are 2 things I'd say:
1. Push yourself hard! Don't just "do it"
2. Diet is just as important, if not more, than gym time. If you don't follow the P90X diet (I don't), make your own that works well for you, but eat smart, try to stay away from refined sugars, do whole wheat pasta.... just basic good stuff. Start reading ingredients labels.20 pounds might be good to start if you don't work out, but I think you'll quickly need more, especially for shoulders and back.
You'll need a pull up bar to, I'd say if you're serious, do the P90X one as it's much larger and more stabel than the cheaper Iron Gym ones.
- Thanks. I have all equipment. Hey do you sometimes take your daily workout to the gym? or do you HAVE to watch dvd everyday?HijoDMaite
- at home daily?HijoDMaite

my wife did it. Didn't bother with the nutrition plan, since we have healthy eating habits to begin with, but she loved the workouts.

To your comment question: I do my weights at a gym. I ripped the DVD's onto my iPhone, and got an armband thing for it. I know all the moves, so just put on headphones and listen.
Also, buy a yoga mat, I didn't for the first month, but damn did it make a difference once I did it.
- ok so that's what I was wondering about. I'll be able to memorize workouts so I can take them to gymHijoDMaite
- if you can get a buddy to do it, it works better to push each other... otherwise you really have to push yourself hardjfletcher
- so try and hit the gym when lots of hot girls go... helps you :Djfletcher

P90X Yoga was one of the hardest yoga workouts I've ever completed. 1.5 hours long, with a nice ab section near the end.

On week 4. Great workout if you stick to it and eat right.
- i_monk0
I go to the YMCA X where I do Bench Press X and Hammer Curl X and all sorts of other things I stick X on the end of.

I've done P90X, Insanity, One on One and now I'm doing a P90X/Rev Abs hybrid. I love all these workouts. The answers are all given to you - eat right - show up - work out hard. Insanity is a motherfucker, though.
Everything fyoucher1 says is on the money. I do love the Yoga disc the best though.
- jfletcher0
Insanity scars me... plus I need to gain muscle... I think insanity would make me thinner at this point. I'm happy with Plyo or the P90X plus intervals stuff for now.

It doesn't sound like anything revolutionary or majorly different from other routines. Just standard mix of cardio, plyometrics + agility training, weights and flexibility.
It sounds like they have just put 'X''s on the end of work outs.
Most fitness and strength enthusiasts knows that mixing workouts and changing routines, be it monthly or w/e, gives great results. But its very good that someone has gathered the cornerstones of training and put them into one exercise for the masses.
At the moment in a week i do a mix of
day
1 chest and back (mixing in hindu push ups, see below)
2 Interval training / plyometrics
3
4 kickboxing
5. Legs and shoulders (including Clean and press)- oops, missed out day 3 :/
day 3 - CAAAAAAKKEES!! :DHombre_Lobo
- oops, missed out day 3 :/

Why the need to "buy into" a program? It's 99% bullshit..all this stuff. Designed to sell you something and make someone else money. Not to get you fit.
Go pick up heavy things, put them down. Run. Outside. Bike. Outside. Do squats. Do pushups. Do pullups. Jump up in the air bringing your knees to your chest 10x, 20x. Climb a jungle gym like a monkey. Go train with a gymnast. Do a martial art. Eat right. All this other crap is just there to sell you something.
- a fool and his money...Greedo
- Well, it's nice and easy just popping in a DVD and following along instead of trying to come up and remember specific routines.fyoucher1
- routines.fyoucher1
- that's why i ripped my copyscarabin
- Who the hell wants to work out in front of a TV?TheBlueOne
- go to a gym. look up. TVs.scarabin
- this was during winter when running/biking was not an option, also gyms in our small town don't really cut it.bulletfactory
- Yeah, gym would be much better obviously. This is for those who don't have access to one.fyoucher1

crossfit has the advantage of the community that you become part of, which inspires you to continue and push it in friendly competition with other athletes.
you have to be quite disciplined to workout on your own in your own home each day. for me, this is why crossfit is the best way.

"Why the need to "buy into" a program?"
'cause people don't understand that being in shape is the one thing you can't pay for
- or maybe they just want to learn new workouts without throwing down even more for a personal trainer?scarabin
- you don't need a trainer either...********
- so people are supposed to be born with a complete repertoire of intensive, non-plateauing workouts and nutrition plans preprogrammed into their minds?scarabin
- pre-programmed into their minds? i understand your anti-capitalist "adbusters" approach, but these things can really help peoplescarabin
- really help peoplescarabin
- haha. i burned it I would never pay full price for something like this.HijoDMaite
