It was around $3,400, a year ago and it skyrocketed after October.
Things have changed, affecting the value of the currency but do you think we'll see a similar spike towards the end of the year?
- Probably not. That spike burned so many "investors" who have jumped the ship never to return and who have influenced others not to get in on this "investment"chukkaphob

One thing that has changed is that more people realised there is no utilitarian value in BTC. It is nothing. It's no commodity, it's not even useful to pay with.
It's nothing but a speculative asset only held by people hodling to it. You've known this for a time, but it's how all those pyramid schemes are built: you know it's a scam but hope you got in early enough and someone else will get burned.
This is not to say it will not skyrocket again, or that an actual use for it will not be discovered.
I'm just saying it's nothing but hot air from a million GPUs.

- Good thing I only spent around $40 on Dogecoins, lol. I'll hold on to it till Dec/Jan just in case.Maaku

- I don't think anyone really cared about real world use, it was just the idea that it was going to keep going up in value.yuekit
- And now that the price has stagnated, suddenly everyone is less enthusiastic about its future. Even though logically there's no real connection.yuekit

My favourite BTC ticker because it has fantastic user-submitted geometric predictions below, they remind me of those absurd animated pseudo-mathematical graphs we had a thread for that ended with "ceci n'est pas une pipe"...

what's happening with the alts is much more interesting (and dire) than what's happening with BTC.
ETH, EOS, BCH, and XRP are all trading at their lowest levels in 9 months to a year. NEO, the chinese ETH, is trading at the lowest price in its history.
I would not be tempted to buy though. Breaking through these lowest supports means we're in uncharted territory. All the coins are going to have to find their own new, lowest lows. In some cases this could mean even more serious drops of 20 to 50 percent.
- It's goblin town bear market, but we have been there before. 80% of alts will probably die, but I would keep an eye on some old grand coins just in casedrgs

- ^ha. That's basically the rosiest scenario imaginable. I think we'll have a long consolidation period at low prices while some alta die before any serious risesarahfailin
- It's beyond me how anyone thinks they can predict the long term trend using tech analysis. Short term yes, but long term it's just way too much to do withyuekit
- external events, media coverage etc. For instance during the rise of late 2017 crypto was being hyped nonstop by CNBC and other mainstream networks.yuekit

The only reason Dogecoins grew a little bit last month was due to its introduction to Robinhood. And I fell for that, ha.

Decision time for bitcoin. In the next 24 hours, we'll see a serious move either up or down. My bet is that it's going to move down, break the 5900 low it was at before and we'll see it move to a new lowest bottom. My target: $4400.
Any movement outside of $6400 - $6520 will let you know that this is the time to either buy or sell.
- I meant to write $5,400. Eventually it will get down to $4XXX but that may take til early 2019 with some more ups and downs along the way.sarahfailin

Has anyone seen Ethereum lately? From $1400 highs to like $260'ish now and performing like crap compared to Bitcoin.
I personally believe the entire crypto market will dive further and most altcoins going to die. Going so far to say that we could see $1000-2000 for Bitcoin end of this year.
- I agree that we're going to see a mass dying off of altcoins. we shall see who survives...sarahfailin
- ethereum was great for a few months, but it was idiotic to ever treat it as a long term investment, 30% increases week on week was a no brainer though.fadein11

Coinbase have finally made it easy with one click to withdraw to your UK bank account. Bit late for me but still good news.

Damn I didn't even notice what dogecoin did again this last month. I think everything is tapped out and about to see a big downturn.
BTCUSDShorts had some crazy action today too, jumping up almost back to their all time high they had descended from earlier this week. Unprecedented as far as I can see.
