Architects who don't understand how straight lines work.
Asked to do an interior render, with glass railings on the stairs. They tell me to put a pattern on the glass - white horizontal stripes. Ok, cool. Get the pattern and make it into a texture - Vray allows you to mix materials, so give one an alpha mask and you can apply it like a transfer onto glass. Sweet.
Start applying the material and see that parts of the glass begin and end at different heights so the pattern is going to be fucked. Now I can't decide which edge to align it to - the top, so it breaks the pattern at the bottom, or the bottom so it breaks the pattern at the top. Either way i'm going to get it in the neck because some bawbag relied too much on the fucking SHITE Archicad stair tool to do their job instead of using logic, talking, reason.

*set view and camera for a render - have to do two as the view cuts the top off the model. No problem, offset the Y value on the camera and do the second part on the remote render PC. Paste the two together in Ps - Bob's your estranged klepto uncle. Do it all the time*

Oh, another one. Did a job about five months ago for some wretched hotel thing - horrible building and what turned out to be an even horibbler picture. During the set up I said that it looks bad and suggested a more closed-in, street level view would be more dynamic and show off the materials better. Make it hyper-detailed, like a busy NY street type thing - give the building a appearance of having a massive footprint.
'...oh no, we have to show thew whole thing so people can see the scale etc. etc.' Usual skinny horseshit. Picture ended up being absolute trash. Personally, a professional embarrassment if i'm honest.
Last week: 'oh, we need to redo that hotel image - we discussed the view and thought that maybe a more close up camera might be better...'
