Finally stopped mucking about with this new track and uploaded it. Been dicking about with for 4 months!Enjoy :-)
- Great stuff. Epic. Manitoa-esquecanoe
- Cheers. I screwed up as I wanted Robbie Williams, not RobinIanbolton
- This is great, like the sort of thing ive been meaning to make!woowahesque
- Cheers. My previous few tracks are kinda similar. They take me fucking ages thoughIanbolton
- Robin Williams once bought a bike for my friend Matt, after meeting in a bike shop. Matt often left his bike unlocked, so it was stolen soon after.pusherbot
- It's completely plausible that a man named Jesus is riding around on that bike, right now, though it would no longer be new.pusherbot
- I've been meaning to make previous tracks like this long time. ffs just give props for something you never actually did besides your total creative ineffort...canoe

Making Sound Machine Stolperbeats looks fun. So does the new Erica Synths LXR FM drum module.

Ready to pull the trigger on a Behringer Odyssey for funky basses.
As far as I can tell it's the best sounding option, and visually I love it as an object though I'm not sure how comfortable I'll be with sliders vs knobs. The 2 obvious alternatives I was considering were :
- Bass Station 2 mostly (presets, slightly cheaper, possibly more versatile, a third of the Odyssey's weight)
- Poly D (minimoog on a budget)
Curious to hear about any experience you guys might have with these
- The Moog Minitaur would be another option in that price range. Definitely can get into funk territory.mort_
- The Minitaur does sound perfect, maybe even more so than the Odyssey, but i need keys on this one (long story)spl33nidoru
- You might find a used Moog Grandmother for not too much more.mort_
- Behringer - shitty company using cheap components and their gear has a poor resale value.mort_
- Korg Odyssey is another great option. Scaled down a bit - saves space.
Has keys. Built well and sounds amazingfuturefood - Thanks mort_, further research seems to point to detuning issues with the Behringer... sucks.spl33nidoru
- Thanks future, I remember these going for more $ but maybe that's not the case anymore, will check!spl33nidoru
- The regular Model D would be better for basses, imo. You don't need the extra voices. Check out the Pro-1 too.section_014
- ^ keyboard is a requirementmort_
- Think I'm going with the Bass Station for full keys + presets, to which I might add a Minitaur later on. Thanks for the input guys!spl33nidoru
- not be a gear snob but behringer can go fuck themselves. apart from their shitty quality control, their whole approach to the industry is parasitic and I justautoflavour
- can't justify supporting them. Moog Minitaur is an amazing machine, better yet the sub37autoflavour

one of my mackie mr5 monitors went out on me.
do i buy a used replacement? used speakers? no.
do i buy a new replacement monitor? probably not.
do i buy a new pair to replace these? i don't really want to.- kinda depends on whats blown PSU? Amp? Driver? Fixed a pair of Alesis monitors for a friend by replacing one diode in the PSU (i remember it cost 36p)kingsteven
- driver is probably the hardest thing to match. if it's just not turning on at all prob the easiest to repair. and easy to diagnose because you have twokingsteven
- it seems mackie don't sell matched pairs though, so you would be grand just to switch one out tbf.kingsteven
- you see my predicament. this "pair" is easily 8 years old, with plenty pushed through them during that timeimbecile
- totally. if you're handy with a soldering iron it's worth a look, worth selling both for the same reason - a lot of folks buying gear to repair, you'll get morekingsteven
- than just selling the working one. had a clearout last year, sold 3 broken boss tuners for more than what 2 working ones would sell forkingsteven
- looking at the manual, I am pretty handy with a soldering iron... probably take it apart this eveningimbecile
- nice one, if it's not powering on at all check the obvious: fuses and any discoloured components, hope it's not SMD... be wary of any big caps.kingsteven

picked up an Error Instruments Radio Sputnik, it's been around a few years in various formats. Incredible combo of nostalgic creepiness and simplicity to emulate the sounds of tuning in to 'pip' stations on an AM radio (everyone who's in to synths did this as a kid right?) with an odd binary sequencer/ beat divider that emulates the pulses of the Russian station UVB-76.
Had to get what remains of my eurorack system down from the attic to get extra cables and multiples, I had sworn off it but getting notions of taking the modular in a different direction this time, staying away from anything predictable and conventionally musical, maybe expanding this in to something akin to a VCS-3
- +++
Experimenting with wild abandon is what modular is all about IMO.mort_ - that's a peach of a thing.hans_glib
- i got too in to digital euro stuff like mutable, flame that was the rage at the time. but i replaced it all with a microfreak!kingsteven
- Your old Mutable modules might be worth more than you paid for them now that they’re all out of production.mort_
- UVB-76 was my ringtone for about a decade. Even pitched up, I had a Pavlovian urge to check my phone.garbage

I once had the ring modfuturefood - The Murf on chords!mort_

- Nice job. Love that hollow sounding melody that kicks in.Ianbolton
- What've you produced it in?Ianbolton
- thx. I made it in live. At first it was just the bass and beat but then I added the melody and realized I had a complete track so I built around it.lodef

The IKEA vs Swedish House Mafia studio furniture is kinda goated. I got a 3 tier studio desk a few years ago but tbh it's kinda shit for prolonged use, and sucks with a laptop, this one looks kinda perfect... going to check it out tomorrow and maybe one of those high-pile rugs and record bags and LED lamp and...
- I think I’m gonna snag 4 of the tablet stands for better, angled drum machine placement on desk, cheap enough, might need 6prophetone
- https://www.ikea.com…prophetone
- picked up the desk, rug and lamp. it's all really good gear. i'll maybe pick up another lamp next week but it's flying out. got the last rug in the storekingsteven
- desk is huge and rock solid, going to have to get a monitor arm to bring it closer... all far above the quality you would expect for the price.kingsteven
- thanks for the heads-up. just grabbed a couple of the tablet stands. Was tempted to buy a load and flog them on ebay when all sold out ;)microkorg
- I have an Ikea Stolmen (synth shelves) setup that's just gathering dust in our garage. Had it all setup at old house but this one ceilings are too high.microkorg
- ^ you're better off. everyone wants the big synth setup until they realise it's totally counter productive to making music. big desk + stands. set up as you go/kingsteven
- take down and zero when you're done. optimise your cable and gear storage and it's just as quick. shit starts feeling like a museum otherwise.kingsteven
- - went back and got the last lamp in the store. very little left on the shelveskingsteven
- prophetone0
- ah shoot, thought it was a midi synth but just plays square wave music files via Bluetoothprophetone
