- he looked semi ok a couple years back, now he looks 100% tramp homeless mode. weird. basically not getting sex is he.shapesalad
- He clearly lives in the south of UK. Wouldn't last 10 mins dressed like that and looking like that up North.shapesalad
- I thought Cuckoo was from Norway or something.. isn't he in Oslo?
And yes, dude needs a haircutautoflavour - lol, he is in oslo but good lord shape you need to get out of london, bad case of roadman blindnesskingsteven

Ok, so after spending a couple of weeks with the OP-1 I can say without a doubt I should have held on to my first one longer..
once I stopped trying to force the OP-1 into my existing workflow and just succumb to its own unique and weird way of doing music, it is actually super fun and intuitive..is it worth it? hard to say .. but its super fun and so far there of the 5 or 6 bits of audio I have made, at least 2 are of a level where I would consider building them into actual songs..
small victories I know.. but sometimes it takes more than one owning of something before you really get a good idea of it
- or maybe it just took that 5 years for my style in music to change enough to accomodate it..autoflavour
- not rushing out to buy a OP-1 Field.. but for anyone thinking about a OG OP-1.. I recommendautoflavour
- Haha, I have a Behringer Neutron which I'm still yet to accommodate into my style of music. Keep thinking of selling itIanbolton
- Saying that, what would you class as 'your style'?Ianbolton
- not so much style as in music, more just workflow.. like forever I was trying to make the OP1 fit into the Ableton/midi/modular thing I have going on..autoflavour
- like it being just another synth.. but once you drop that and think about it like being the centre of everything, and you get your head around the NO UNDOautoflavour
- but you can cut and paste audio so as long as you have it in buffer you can always just replace the audio you messed up, then it becomes a different thingautoflavour
- was having a lot of fun the other night clocking the modular out of the op1 and then sampling/recording the modular back into the OP1autoflavour
- will I write a whole song on it? unlikely.. will I get 4 parts which are the basis of a whole song which is then finished in Ableton.. definitelyautoflavour
- Nice. I'm interested in people's creative processes and music must have one of the most varied skillsets going. There's infinite ways to make a tune.Ianbolton

Is anyone here an mpc live user? I am trying to figure out how to send audio from an audio track to the outputs for external processing and then return it. Also how to assign audio tracks to submix busses. Im pretty familiar with how this works on an actual mixer, im.familiar with sends, returns, busses, etc but this mpc workflow is not intuitive. Ive watched videos and read the manual and still cant find where you assign routing to sends, returns and submixes.

Been waiting for this guy to drop
- never mind that old cock, whens their vcs3 coming out?hans_glib

- it's a beauty, however... want 1 or 2 aux sends + pan per channel, 1/4 outs - w/ a few more tweaks and not much larger form factor can replace big mixing deskprophetone
- like two more knobs per channel, one aux one pan, have a small selector button beside aux knobprophetone
- the OTO stuff is really great thoughprophetone
- Always wanted a Boss KM-60 or a clone of the unit, this is so close, but also better... nicer build, master bus featuresprophetone
- it better come in a different colour because god damn that's uglyautoflavour
- Considering OTO's past products have all been effects boxes, it's really strange that this doesn't have any Aux sends.microkorg

I had a play with the Arturia Pigments 4 demo for a couple of hours and ended up buying it (at the current sale price). I've mostly been using hardware synths for the past couple of years, both analog and digital, and haven't tried any of the previous versions of Pigments.
It completely blew me away. The sound quality is killer. Even the filters sound incredible. The effects too. And the unique multi engine setup means limitless options for sculpting unique sounds, not to mention the modulation options.
The interface is up there with Elektron Overbridge in how it shows you so much of what's going on in a few screens.
Very cool.
- LOL at me using unique twice in the same sentence.mort_
- It is a beautiful thingcanoe
- yep, just picked it up recently too. 49 bucks if you own v collectionkingsteven
- hyped about the minifreak plugin too but imagine they'll keep it for v collection 10 to give it a proper releasekingsteven
- Yeah got it for 49 too. Bargain!mort_
- is this the sort of thing someone with ZERO musical experience could use?hardhat
- @hardhat It has a load of presets so you can just switch between those which would be very easy.mort_
- Meanwhile, observing what's going on in the interface for each preset would be a good way of learning since everything is so visual.mort_
- I bum the hell out of all the Arturia V collection stuff. Pigments 3 was fantastic, so i'll definitely check this version out.Ianbolton
- nice one. thanks @morthardhat

Came across this recently and it's a goldmine of information on sound design. Someone on Reddit compiled all 63 parts of a Sound on Sound magazine series called Synth Secrets into a single PDF.
It starts by explaining basics like waves, envelopes and modulation and then explains how various acoustic instruments can be synthesized like drums, percussion, brass, strings, piano, etc.
PDF even has a document outline for jumping to each part,

- Cool. Looks like a Max for Live version of the Elektron Syntakt in a few ways.mort_
- Yeah def syntakt-ishprophetone
- its not only max for live.. its need ACTUAL max.. I got burned.. I have M4L and it wont runautoflavour
- ooft, the terminology around all that max -> msp -> ableton -> live -> suite is a bullshit. always hated cycling 74's pricing, seems even worse with abletonkingsteven

A lot of cool tricks in 4hp, not to mention the light show.

Ever have one of those "why didn't I do this sooner" moments with gear and software?
I have finally taken the time to update the template I use in Logic Pro to move constantly-used plugins per guitar track to an aux channel and holy crap the performance improved significantly, some noise went away, and it's like everything improved sound wise. Slowly doing the same for non-audio tracks. I am happy.
- I get this, but i constantly change how i work as i'm never happy with anything! Good work though, it's a nice feeling.Ianbolton
- Splitting effects amongst multiple tracks is definitely the trick for better performance in Logic. You could use multiple audio tracks too if...section_014
- ... you didn't want to do aux sends. For instance, if you wanted to have the guitar signal 50% wet on a reverb (where aux sends still leave the full signal).section_014
- When I was using Logic, I would always get the first two cores at like 80% otherwise. Like, wtf I have 16 cores!! Use all of em!section_014

Favorite plugins for easy-to-edit natural drums?
I use Addictive Drums 2 and have for a while. Always need something with brush sounds and fortunately they have a jazz kit with brush sounds. Having brush sounds is mandatory.
Saw something good the other day about Superior Drummer 3.
List of popular ones for reference:
https://www.pianodreamers.com/be…- Superior Drummer 3 is great! Not sure how your triggering sounds within the software. I use MASCHINE MK3 Mikro and Roland Vdrums.Percrushin
- Brush kits sound very realistic. Check this guyPercrushin

- What us addictive drums not doing for you? If the hits are too hard, you could limit the velocity to 50% or so.section_014
- *issection_014
- section - Hard to say. It might be because on their own they never sound exactly as I want to hear them in my head. In a mix though, things sound better.mg33
- I also wish they'd give the UI a makeover. Hamg33
- Well what do you know section... my velocity settings were all out of whack. Adjusted kick and now it's so much better. It was too "snappy" on even mild hits.mg33
- Nice! AD's drums are indeed too snappy most of the time. I usually limit the max velocity to like 40% (sometimes less). Then, run them through saturation.section_014
- Might have more questions for you. Are you editing the velocity for each item in the kit? And I assume you mean in Edit > Response? What about the filter?mg33
- section - Your tips were helpful! I've been working away on this new template, lots of aux channels to streamline things, and really tweaking drums in AD.mg33
- This isn't mastered but it's the rough mix of my template with 2 guitars, drums, bass samples, strings, piano, synth pad.
https://www.dropbox.…mg33 - I've been playing around with LANDR's online mastering demo, it's pretty nice. Not used here... just trying to get the lush sound I want for my tracks.mg33
- NI Studio Drummer is the best thing on the market. Different recording for each velocity. Literally nothing better.imbecile
