The new Roland AIRA range looks like old RadioShack/Tandy DJ Mixers from the late 80s/early 90s!!!
why didn't they emulate the style of the old units or come up with a retro styling for the range.
Although the unit + software are a piece of crap, Akai got it SO right with the MPC Renaissance. Massive influence from retro styling but also modern.
I just don't know what Roland was thinking with this new range in terms of design.
:(
- i am guessing they watched TRON recently, and thought Daft punk, Tron, techno = new colour schemeautoflavour

Tokyo, Japan - February 17, 2014 - KORG INC. is proud to announce that a faithful recreation of the legendary 1970s analog synthesiser, the ARP Odyssey, is being developed by Korg for release later in 2014.

This just in... the Rhythm Wolf... aaaiaioooooooooohhhh...
"The pro audio outfit has announced the Rhythm Wolf, an analog drum machine and bass synth module designed with classic sound machines in mind. There's a built-in 32-step sequencer and six MPC pads to wrangle "highly tweakable" drum sounds and the bass synthesizer's selectable oscillator and classic filter design."
And... it's $200! (apparently) I'm on the fence re: new Roland stuff but this is mine-a-line-a-ding-dong.
http://www.akaipro.com/tradeshow…
Also a new APC 40 MKII which is pretty nice 'n tight gotta say.
- autoflavour0
yeah, its seems that Akai decided to capitalise on Rolands lack of foresight and build something people actually want.
and for $200, the wont be able to make these things fast enough.
- that thing is a no brainer if it delivers - also separate outputs for bass x drums is a nice touchprophetone
- even if the build quality is not great, which it kinda looks like, it's a stealprophetone
- i can already see this thing getting modded out in all black with aluminum knobs, real wood, etc.prophetone
- now all we need is a demo video!prophetone
- its an analog drum machine made by Akai.. it wont be ground breaking, but it will definitely be usable and lust worthyautoflavour
