Advice please - I have Rokit5 monitor speakers which I love but I am having a slight problem that is infuriating. When using my iMac (27" about 3 years old) for general stuff and Logic interactions cause some crackling, almost like a hard drive sound through the speakers. Sometimes the sound is persistent constantly in background. It seems to have got worse this past week. The sound become slightly louder when using the mouse or interacting with windows. I have been told this could be a groundloop problem but it seems more likely the iMac is passing on the sound. The monitors are quite close to the iMac but don't have a lot of choice with current setup.
Any ideas? Thanks.

fadein11.. you need whats called a ground loop isolator..
they are designed for car stereos but they work perfectly fine for the problem you are describing..you can usually get them off ebay for about 15 bucks.
another thing to make sure is the that the monitors and the computer/audio interface are NOT on the same powerpoint/power board..
try the powerboard first.. but you will probably still hear a bit..
groundloop isolators look like this generally..
- i have 2 .. one between my mixer and my audio interface.. and one between my imac and the mixer..
autoflavour - i think.. it was a while ago i set it all up.. but yep, these 2 things will resolve 90% of the soundautoflavour
- Thanks so much I have ordered this:

fadein11 - all the same thing.. just one in a box and uses 1/4 inch, the other is in RCAautoflavour

feedback welcome

^^ Track 1 - nice track, probably start everything a lot earlier .. i know what your going for, but i have a short attention span.
Track 2 - also nice.. my feedback would be to try creating more space in the track. there is a lot of high mids happening throughout the track in a pretty constant space.. but there is no breathing room.
strip in back to 2 elements or something for 4 bars.. not a break down, just a breather.. then slowing bring back the high mids part by part.that would be my 2c..
nice stuff tho..
- Great thanks! I am terrible at mixing and mastering as well. fancy doing it for me? :)fadein11
- agree opening of 1 is too slow - I guess I am going for club tracks so need a relatively large intro?fadein11
- i know, thats what i mean by i knew what you were going for.. but even club tracks dont take 2 minutes to kick inautoflavour
- as for mixing.. sorry .. all comment, no action :)autoflavour
- I know was kidding... I will have a play around with arrangements thoughfadein11
- autoflavour0
^^ further to track 2 feedback.. around 5 or so you have a breakdown, but the drilling acid is what is also in that midrange.. strip it back to that, but without the acid.
- Thanks mate - v.useful!fadein11
- p.s. ordered that box and some new cables - cables 99% fixed the issue - annoying but guess I have the box for future if needed. thanks again for the advice.fadein11

busy preparing to play at Gretchen this saturday night..
went back thru all the tracks I put into the octatrack and mixed them again.. its amazing how different it sounds.also finding some nice new bits.
decided to use the Virus Snow as a synth this time running into a input of the Octatrack than just using it as the atomizer.. the TT303 is running the sequences still for it.
going to run it all thru the new RNC1773 Compressor I got before it gets to the PA..
i am still freaking out.. but at least I know the Octatrack is all in order at the moment.
- I am barely scratching the surface of the OT capabilities.. but i love that I dont need a laptopautoflavour
