day 4 of my juice fast. i'm having two juices and dropping .4 lbs of fat a day. i was gonna go for ten days but this shit is so easy i'm probably gonna double that. i can't say my cognitive abilities have become sharper like a lot of the documentaries claim, if anything i find it affecting my short term memory as if i were high. unlike the bullshit master cleanse i did a year ago i'm finding myself never really hungry. there are probably a total of five-ten seconds in a day that i find myself wanting to eat but it's not a hunger thing so much as a "damn i wanna go out with my coworkers for lunch" social thing or smelling something delicious someone brought in and just really enjoying it. also working out at the gym hasn't been a problem in terms of energy.
it's clear we don't really _need_ to eat constantly, we just think we do, stressing out about what you're gonna put in your stomach next and how soon... at lunch time my coworkers get crazy and act like crackheads looking for a fix
- that's probably water weight.
good job though man, makes me want to bust out the juicer toomoldero - i considered the water thing as well but it's .4 per day like clockwork with no changes in my hydration habitsscarabin
- i'll share my fitbit chart when i'm donescarabin

- damn, are you exercising too or is this just diet?moldero
- lifting and 30 mins of cardio twice a week is allscarabin

- Sometimes a juice literally gives me a mellow buzz like a weak jointset
- yeah me too, set. i notice it happens more with spinachscarabin
- that's a crazy amount of juice whhipp! i'm paying close attention to my body so no worriesscarabin

This is what I make in the am. (I use the breville je900 juicer) It kind of tastes like a really fresh Bloody Mary.
Half a bunch of Swiss chard
Half a bunch of kale
Half a bunch of Italian parsley
Half a bunch of cilantro
Half a bunch of celery
Half a cucumber
2 cored Granny Smith apples
2 peeled lemons
1 piece of ginger
Half a teaspoon of sea salt
Half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper- you forgot the Vodkafooler
- I leave it in your capable hands to customize.GM278
- Also that should be half a bunch of celery.GM278
- That's an expensive drink! Or at least it would be at Aus prices...MrT
- It makes enough for about 3 drinks. I keep it in the fridge and knock em back throughout the dayGM278
- no need to core your apples or peel your lemonsscarabin
- other citrus rinds taste like shit but lemon ain't badscarabin
- i wonder what that would be like with a tomato in the mixscarabin
- yea expensive in aus!! 1 bunch of cliantro (coriander) is at least a few bucks here.inteliboy
- cool story healthbrofadein11

I've been juicing hops and red grapes way to much this holiday season time to get back to strawberries and kale

OK I retract my earlier statement and want my juicer back. 3 weeks of overindulgence and now I'm pretty sure I have my own gravitational pull.

i tried making crackers with the pulp and it was the worst thing i ever put in my mouth. i'm pretty sure everything but the fiber is taken out by my machine cause what's left tastes like cardboard. i run it through three times and boil it to make stock just to be sure. it's making awesome compost though, my tomato plants are loving it

I started juicing after seeing Fat Sick and Nearly Dead. Way better than the supersize me documentary by way of story telling and content. We got this DVD for free when we purchased our Breville and haven't regretted the purchase since.Things you should know going into it. Juicing is not the same as blending first and foremost. Juicing extracts micronutrients and gives them to you in usable form where as blended fruits and veggies still need to be broken down more. For every one apple or piece of kale juiced you would have to eat 5-8 more raw or blended to get the same input of nutrients.
Second, it's time consuming. For every "batch" you make (4 kale leaves, 4 celery, 1 cucumber, 2 green apples, 1" ginger, 1/2 lemon) which yields only 24oz. requires a vegetable and device cleanup time of about 20 minutes not to mention the time for purchasing fresh vegetables.
Finally, cost. Don't be fooled into thinking you need organic for juicing, not true. However, for every 24oz (3 Servings of 8oz per meal for me) runs about 6 bucks, which is not bad but I also add other ingredients like spinach etc.
Benefits, I can tell you that the benefits are unreal. in a little over a week i lost 10lbs and had the energy to cycle 10 miles a day. Now, a lot of that was water weight, but my energy was through the roof and required less tired/crash feeling after meals because my body didn't have to break down other garbage and blood sugar spikes.
If you are looking to feel better, lose weight, get off medication and just be healthier all around, juicing is a great option. I think we are all just used to prepackaged meals and convenience of fast food but if we are willing to unlearn those habits YOU will notice a huge difference in the way you feel, think and recover.
- awesome film, that "hungry for change" and "forks over knives" completely changed the way i eatscarabin
