I've skipped past all the spoilers to say I binged the first three late last night. Tired today but was worth it. Promising show!
- Bennn2
watched 1 and a half episode and I like it.
+1 Netflix!

tv shows are slowly killing movies, lots of people around me say they kind of dont want to listen to movies anymore.. everyone wants tv shows.
- Sad but trueApeRobot
- hard to beat the good ole 2 hour format though. And this although good does feel like TV a lot of the time.fadein11
- 2 hours is super short and we dont have time to really get into charaters' mind and psychology.Bennn
- erm - the hundreds of classic films of the past may be evidence to the contrary. And let's face it this isn't about characterisation is it?fadein11
- watching 80 hours of Breaking Bad is a lot of time to get into the characters mind and psychology, no 2 hours films can beat that. Its mathematics.Bennn
- I'm not saying movies sucks. :) its just, different.Bennn
- yeah of course its different but you said TV is killing cinema... it really isnt - it just can make more money in the long run which is what its all about.fadein11
- cinema has been pronounced dead so many times and always comes back and its far from dead now anyway.fadein11
- and tell them they should watch and listen to movies - it can be so dull just listening lol. (sorry)fadein11
- yeah 'listen' is a bad french to english translation, my bad ;)Bennn
- i know - sorry.fadein11
- you better be sorry! ;PBennn
- Front page material.ApeRobot
- Yeah fuck movies!yuekit
- Most TV becomes formulaic and predictable, breaking bad was guilty of that like a mofo. A lot of deus ex machina used to move the plot forward. In a movie theyzarkonite
- would have tightened the plot to keep it focused and moving forward.zarkonite
- IE: Walt would go into killer mode, snap out of it become the uncertain persona and create a deadly problem and it would get solved with his smart persona.zarkonite

Trying to avoid any semblance of spoiler on here, but wanted to post a link to the guys who did most of the synth music. I've only watched the first episode last night, but the music is fantastic and just so perfect for this show.

perfectly captures that 80's vibe
- This intro looks so much like something Greyscale Gorilla would do, totally awesomeGeorgesII
- Reminds me of the Halt and Catch Fire intro, which was also an '80s period show, and an excellent one at that.
https://www.youtube.…monospaced - It's very EJ Hazzenfratz. I think he mentioned this in one of his recent tutorials.CyBrainX

Loved it

So rare is it that you sit down and watch something that you know instantly was a labour of love and not some board room project (aka preacher).
The photography is superb and the directors blocking is perfect, editing just flows and the actors feel like they are just living and breathing their roles effortlessly.
The intro in the start is fucking perfectly made.
I'm at like eposide 7 or 8 or Preacher and sort of like it and I'm a massive fan of the comics - but I just watched 3 of this and addicted.
Only minor complaint is sometimes its cliche when it doesn't need to but hey ho cant have everything.
Loving the creature. Again God I'm a nerd!
- Instead of cliché I would say it has the perfect formula to give it the 80s feeling we are so accustomed to, and it's great.Maaku
- wow - it's good but not that good. watch It Follows if you enjoy VHS/Betamax nostalgia.fadein11
- Loved "it follows".
I just love the blocking, editing flow and the DI work!mugwart - It Follows was ok ... nice visuals and amazing score but the story?!? meh.Ramanisky2

That last episode left me with no nails! lol
- I know... had me on edge of my seat... scarfed like 3 McDLT's, chased w/ a 2L of Crystal Pepsi, 3 bags of Pop Rocks and a pack of Popeye cigarettes!prophetone
- hahahasea_sea
- ^ wow ... and you're alive and well.
outstanding.Ramanisky2 - You kidding? I feel great, energized. Like I just discovered the treasure of the four crowns...prophetone
- lol ... sounds like the cornerstone of any nutritious breakfastRamanisky2
- yes. that and sugar smacks.prophetone

- She reminds me more of the Childlike Empress in The Neverending Story.Cosmodrome
- She looks like a young Sarah Paulson.monospaced
- She reminded me of Portman from some angles too.ETM

Great show. Good stories, good characters, actors, music, sets, writing etc all top shelf. Derivative but not in a bad way.

Okay, tons of SPOILERS so don't open if you're not ready.
Found this cool article..
"A Stranger Things Glossary: Every Major Film Reference in the Show, From A–Z"
- Not that convinced. Sounds like a film buff grasping at straws for some to sound oh so knowledgeable. Some are not even references.microkorg

Love that they use the Oldsmobile Delta 88 for John Byers car. Great nod to The Evil Dead
- good catch! can't wait to see some alien (?) carnagesarahfailin

Just started this last night. So rare something hooks me from the very beginning. Top, top stuff.
- DRIFTMONKEY0
Finished last night. Loved it. I wonder if they do another season, will it be a new story in a new town with new characters?
- I thought it would be until the "sink scene" & "food in the forest" at the end.sublocked
- Keep it ambiguous. Jack Burton rode off with a monster on his truck, and they never needed to pay that off.DRIFTMONKEY
