Mimio: there are very few unquestionable "proofs" that we rely on. Most of what we believe is based upon evidence. Some beliefs have more evidence than others.

If Mr. D said that a midget(small person) with a bullwhip cracked the Universe into existence you'd think he was crazy. He's "not knowing" and mythological invention doesn't drawing conclusions or provide proof.

1 billion people can be wrong, look at the success of amway ;)

haha, mrdobolina. You just don't get these kinds of things. Which makes it hard to discuss them with you. You get all flustered and resort to ridicule. Can you see why that makes it hard to have a reasonable discussion with you? :)
Scientific discoveries have implications (we've been over this numerous times). The Big Bang has implications of something cognizant which transcends "nature" or perhaps your version of "reality". Follow?

"We should base our beliefs on evidence." - Richard Dawkins
Something Dick and I agree on.
- acescence0
there's plenty of evidence that suggests your bible is a collection of pagan fairytales
- Mimio0
I don't see how the Big Bang carries implications of a cognizant entity as the causation of the Universe. I think that's your dogma filling in the blanks again.
- flagellum0
acescence: show me that evidence.
I've been studying the Bible, arguments both for and against it's reliability and infallibility, for about 16 years and I remain convinced that it is true.

Mimio: well we can agree to disagree. To me the Big Bang screams of intelligent causation. I don't believe that life comes from non-life.

There isn't a shred of evidence that anything supernatural exists in reality, yet you inject it into every explaination of reality.

I believe that the Islamic religion is a religion of men and is comprised of myths.
flagellum
(Oct 5 06, 08:07)that is the pot calling the kettle black.

Mimio: i disagree. There is plenty of historical evidence in support of Christ's miracles and resurrection, for example.
- Mimio0
Cite one scientifically documented miracle or superntural phenomenon. Let's keep it to things that can be approached with the scientific method and not mythologies.
- flagellum0
Mimio: how does the scientific method apply to miraculous events and why would establish it as the criteria for judging their validity. Support your answer.
It is historical evidence which supports my belief system.
- flagellum0
my Christian belief system, that is.
- mrdobolina0
prove that a ghost exists, it never has been done. That is supernatural, no?
- Mimio0
Flagellum, it would only have to be something that couldn't be explained in part or in whole by natural means. Something that clearly contradicts a natural cause. Clearly such a thing doesn't exist, it just belies in ignorance.

Mohammed's ascension: I believe that the Islamic religion is a religion of men and is comprised of myths. How is your question relevant to Harris's position?

(Oct 5 06, 08:07)my Christian belief system, that is.

(Oct 5 06, 08:28)Sorry, what exactly are Christians made up of?
- mrdobolina0

You cannot refute that there is a spirit plane which allows spirits to cross paths with humans now and then. Ask anyone with a first hand demonic experience.
My mom was walking by a house once with a friend and heard a dog breathing and growling and its collar rattle behind her.
She turned around and there was nothing behind her. But guess what, her friend turned around at the same time because she heard it as well.
