I have the Nike Lunar1+'s.
Good: super light, amazing fit (they run small, half size larger than previous Nike's), minimal design
Bad: I still get blisters when I run longer distances and it's been a year. Never had that with Nike's before.
(I see they have a new one out, maybe they resolved the issues...I've run on Nike's for 20+ years, so it was a little surprising)

Go to a running shop and get them top check your running style. Good fitting pair of running shoes changes everything.

I'm with yurimon, I have the ASICS Men's GEL-Kayano 19 Running Shoe and while they look kind of lame they are by far the best fitting, most comfortable, lightest running sneaker I've ever owned. Just wish they looked a little better.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product…- I liked them for two pairs, but how bad they look just killed it for me. Nike's are about as good now/again, imhoformed
- What an ugly shoe. But I'm going to check eBay for them since you guys recommend itohhhhhsnap
- Btw I'm new to this-- the same shoes I use for running -- I can use for most other activities right? Ie.,ohhhhhsnap
- Tennis, basketball, (gym... Well that goes w/I saying)ohhhhhsnap
- Yes. Just don't ever wear them outside of physical activities! :)lvl_13
- No, they'll fall apart quickly if you play basketball - the heels aren't made for side-to-side movementsformed
- that, and you'll get laughed off the court ;-)formed

I do too, if you're talking about "Vibrams".
They look like shit, but it's a world of difference.
You'll work muscles you normally don't do with cushioned shoots.
Plus, you'll really feel the surface you're running on. Almost as if you're exploring a new sense. But yes. They look weird.
- how do you get over the shame Peter?ohhhhhsnap
- fuck. i want them so bad. i just don't think i can take the shame. http://www.zappos.co…ohhhhhsnap
- You don't. You learn to live with it. But it gets easer.Peter
- lol... i don't see anything wrong with them at all. OK i'm going to get some on ebay before i sober up!ohhhhhsnap
- There's lots of counterfeit fivefingers on ebay btw, not worth looking for a cheaper option there.raf
- Dont wear them if you are hairy cause you will look like a man apeyurimon

If you buy vibrams or toe shoes or whatever DO NOT RUN ON ASPHALT for the sake of christ.
Especially if you are a heel striker. Fucked my tendons up big time. Be careful choosing the right surface. Do some trail running or something but stay the fuck off hard surfaces.
- <Hombre_Lobo
- I like vibrams cause it makes you look like you have man ape feet..yurimon
- I do asphalt with mine.
Just need to gradually work it, and (like mentioned below) re-learn to runPeter

^absolutely
bare foot running is a brilliant way to learn how to run right. naturally start on grass, and practice, then move to harder surfaces and wear vibram five fingers for protection.
you forget just how gentle your foot fall is when you dont have a huge piece of sponge under your heel.
generally the more experienced the runner the less padded their shows need to be, as they know to land on their feet properly, not stamping onto their heel every step ruining their knees and ankles. thats what my triathlete tells me anyway!

I've been having problems with calf cramps. When I run faster, one leg will seize up and it will take a good week before I can exercise.
Any suggestions? I had to take off about 2 years due to a back injury, never ever had problems with my calves in 25+ years of running.
- cramps usually means you are not drinking enough waterMiguex
- shit Miguex... didn't know that. thanksohhhhhsnap
- or you're out of shape, do some calf stretchesdoesnotexist

what brand you get really depends on your form and how your foot hits the ground. a good running shoe store employee will be able to help you choose the right one.
toe glove things aren't usually great because most inexperienced runners are heal strikers. i like these reeboks because they encourage you to run on your toes—

just ditched these free-run 5.0 (they ran their course. uck yuck uck)
and moved away from frees (been running on frees for the past 3 years or so) to these: http://images.footlocker.com/pi/…
it'll be interesting to see if I can handle the extra support now. might feel way too rigid, but i hope not.
