This is interesting for those wondering how some features of music software, analysis etc, works:
- vox did some cool vids like this, one on jdilla was pretty dopeGuyFawkes
- This guy does a good job of explaining all types of Math subjects, fyi.section_014

Hello Ableton Live 10
- hello no money :(autoflavour
- yeah it’s a tough call for me as already haz logic, and really think ableton is the bees knees, but $600 for standard... hmmmprophetone
- i mean i say this... and then i do things like easily drop $400 on a mint, in the case, roland vs2480 because gearrrrprophetone
- lol. already had Suite 9 from when I was flush with some cash and upgraded from 8 Standard. So the upgrade to 10 was only £180microkorg

- its going to be tight, but it also means that there is no wasted space.. just so sick of always having to wrestle with the venue for tables to set up onautoflavour
- still a way to go.. but its getting closerautoflavour
- always loved the idea of an all-in-one casemicrokorg
- nice. why the 3rd electron though?inteliboy
- guessing you use 2 to mix between tracks - and a third for live stuff on top?inteliboy
- Analog Rytm for extra drum and kick umph .. Analog4 for additional synth parts and the octrack playing main parts of each song.autoflavour
- ah I see. so tight.inteliboy

In the comments: “is this what will happen to me if i use loop pedals?” hahahaha
- I can't focus on anything except that guy's haircut.mg33

- What in the fuck is exactly going on in this video?sublocked
- I hate everything about this.sublocked
- who mounts a laptop sideways?autoflavour

- I looked up some more of his stuff, some of it is actually pretty goodCalderone2000

SunSunSun_ recently posted one of his lovely songs on here, I loved it so much I asked if he had ever looked at getting any remixes of his tracks.
He was happy for me to have a go and this is the result:
https://soundcloud.com/field-the…I/we would love to hear what the QBN folk think.
His truly lovely original is here:
https://soundcloud.com/brunomerz…This place still has it's uses :)
- i'd say nice try, but the bass and drumbeat overpowers the original;. 4;10-5:10 is the best section... you need to make the beat and the bass more complementaryhans_glib
- imh(aw)ohans_glib
- thanks for the feedback. We were going for a different vibe for the remix though. I agree though it was v.difficult taking away the loveliness of the orig :)fadein11
- yeah the bass line doesn't gel. It could be ok for a few bars, before changing to a more fitting part. The vocal treatment is good, the 303 should be more.shapesalad
- Like the bass and 303 in this is a good reference on how to make it gel: https://www.youtube.…shapesalad
- some of the original melody guitar flourishes could have been worked into a catchy playful synth melody, like in this remix:shapesalad
- https://www.youtube.…shapesalad
- ^ the synth melody starts at 1:52shapesalad
- bass is quite nice on that but that really isn't the vibe I was going for, that's full on dancefloor. Also not my thing tbh. But thanks for feedback.fadein11

my new album is out.
- Not my usual cup of tea but enjoyed listening to some of the tracks. Very dark. Well produced, sounds great.microkorg

Anyone using multiple Roland Boutiques with audio via USB into Ableton Live on a PC?
I read somewhere that a PC can only run ONE with the multiple channels into the PC.
:(
- Thinking of grabbing a TB-03 as it's currently £303 and maybe either the 808 or 909microkorg
- I read something about this recently, I think it is possible. let me try to find.fadein11
- https://www.youtube.…fadein11
- Cheers, saw that video earlier but didnt watch it as it's for MAC and he uses the Agregate Device option that's available on MAC not PC :(microkorg
- ah sorry presumed it would be same.fadein11
- prophetone0
- I'd grab one at that price purely as a shelf ornament! Nice find!microkorg
- it has a 'disk read' issue, but comes w/ a new drive replacement, or could be solved by using a scsi zip drive which i have... or a proper scsi2sd card laterprophetone
- the screen looks clean which is a huge deal for one so cheap as most will be illegible w/ lines everywhere, so could be a winprophetone
- i used to have one of these, regretted trading it away years ago. honestly, it's cheaper than a korg volca sampler(!) which is kinda crazyprophetone
- also not sure if ram is the issue or if this thing even has the 32MB of full ram installed, so bought two sticks just in case for $8 - nice n cheap!prophetone
- i got my volca sample for $95. but i sold it off as it is not as fun as my mpc1000futurefood
- awww yeeahkingsteven
- I never got my head around the mpc1000 i bought. Much prefer the immediacy of Push2 ;)microkorg
- Well jealous of this MPC2000 for this price though. The wife and I are doing up our place and going to get some bespoke shelving done to display itemsmicrokorg
- ... one of the things I want to get to display is an old reel 2 reel. And now i'm wanting a vintage MPC too :)microkorg
- Push2 seems cool, a bit complex for me at the moment haha. Im just barely getting into ableton.futurefood
- Prophet, you're a dick! I'm now watching 2000's on eBay for my shelf.microkorg
- hehe... before this one there was one i almost snagged a week prior at $199... but had screen lines, they pop up tho!prophetone
- you’ll need an SP1200 to pair with it tooprophetone
- Paging @microkorg https://www.ebay.com…prophetone

anyone know the synth on these opening pads?
driving me insane... swear have created a patch just like it years ago but lost it.
basic saw tooth with unison... but hard to get that sound...
I thought maybe a PPG.
- some old FM synth?canoe
- yea, many poly-synths available by that time. but to my ears, it sounds like a sequential circuits synth.futurefood
- here is a prophet 600 example
https://www.youtube.…
very capable of creating those pads and bell-like chimesfuturefood - closer to a filtered unison PWM + pitch modulated square wave through a fixed resonant filter and a shit ton of reverb.kingsteven
- but it's '86? so hard to tell. was using a farfisa polychrome recently that was full of that lushness https://www.youtube.…kingsteven
- oh, i hear the saw on the second two notes. drone sounds like it has a bit of pwm going on.kingsteven
- prophetone0
- ok, now im jealous! those things are so fun! i got my eye on a sp303, but not anywhere near 80$ lol. nice findfuturefood
- would be lying if i said i didn't already have a few lo-fi boxes, got a Yamaha SU10 and an MS-1... always wanted this box though, youtube told me to do itprophetone
- i want to have some fun this year... make some 90s grimey hip hop lo-fi boombap crispy crunch beats w/ lil toy boxesprophetone
- are you in long island? i think you bought my yamaha su10 i recently sold. ;)futurefood
- i'm in vancouver - got my SU10 a few years ago locally... replaced my original one i got when it came out, that my friend had "borrowed" yrs ago = disappearedprophetone
- @futurefood - there was a $199usd SP303 on eBay a few days ago located in Canada... I was on the fence and it sold. but i wanted a 202 because extra grungeprophetone
- despite my collection of drum samplers and small sampler boxes i'm still eyeballing an SP404 because they're pretty great, lots of youtube inspirationprophetone
- ...i also have an original WTPA 1.0 8-bit Sampler kit that i have promised myself i will build this year which is realllly lo-fiprophetone
- Can't you just use logic/albeton/renois... etc and apply some compression+bit crush and get the same sound?shapesalad
- not really the point, there is the live aspect... aka playing with cool toys that make noiseprophetone
- @shapesalad to your point tho, yes you can, to a degree, altho will never match hardware, i have D16’s Decimort2 bitcrush plugin and it’s tres coolprophetone
- Check out Vulf Compressor, its made to do exactly this.ltjohnrambo
- I had one of these when I first got into producing. Idk, I don't know why you'd want one now.section_014
- i'll have to check out the WTPA kit, sounds coolfuturefood
- I'm considering buying the new WTPA 2.0 as they added a bunch of cool upgrades, acrylic case etc. for about $200 - will be rare http://blog.narrat1v…prophetone

Finally had my EP released! It's been a long road, but I'm so happy its finally out. Got to work with an amazing vocalist, Zacari, on the first track.
https://open.spotify.com/album/4…
I'm also trying to find a good mixer for all my synths/drummachines. I'd like to be able to play them all at once without losing time hooking/unhooking stuff.
This looks like the best option:
Anyone have any suggestions?
- anywhere else to listen? I don't do spotify.fadein11
- ^ https://soundcloud.c…ltjohnrambo
- that line mixer is gorgeous but holy $$$prophetone
- Yeah, there's not much in the mid price range. Mostly Mackie-level stuff and then really expensive mini-consoles. I'm hoping to find one used.ltjohnrambo
- Nice synth sounds.shapesalad
- Thanks shape!ltjohnrambo
- Buy a patchbay.. cheaperautoflavour
- Although decent second hand mixers can be picked up reasonably cheap.. depends on how many channels u needautoflavour
- Nice and on the legendary Nervous. Had no idea they were still going. Where are the other tracks on SC?fadein11
- i fux with this, nice stuff man congrats!********
- Congratulations! Great sound! Love it. Would love to collab if you're interested.SimonFFM
- Got a great deal this morning on the X Sum!! Thanks for the kind words guys! @SimonFFM send me a link and I'll check it outltjohnrambo

Akai MPD 18 for 30€...
Your thoughts...
Never owned such a thing but would like to try.
I almost bought an MPC once...- Do it, for 30€ u can hate it and still be fineautoflavour
- I have one. The pads can be glitchy and double hit at times. None of the online fixes work (for me). Other than that, it's decent.section_014
- You can get pad updates for it from mpcstuff.com. It can also control Beatmaker3 on iPad!microkorg
- what?! really? i think i go for it then if it's still there, though |I would prefer to spend 30€ in records right now.********

I've been fucking around with effecting youtube for a few weeks (working on a live show based around the idea) this video from the vid of the day thread a few days back was a blessing!
- that's cool!SunSunSun_
- is this automated/coded effects or done manually?microkorg
- all automated but super simple... pitches are extracted from the clicks and mapped to trigger a synth and vocoder fed by the original signal.kingsteven
- quality stuff :)microkorg
- Nice workstoplying

Anyone rocking an Elektron Digitakt here?
It didn't jump out at me when it was first released as something I'd need or want but I've been watching a lot of the demo/tutorial videos recently and the thing is a bloody epic little box. It's a performance sampler not a song composing sampler ( no song mode ) which is perfect for me. I've never ever ever used song mode on gear.
The Sonic State video was the one that really turned me onto it. The bit where Cenk P-Locks the Program Changes on the Moog ..... f*******!!!!!!
