300 quid, not a clone, well laid out and a good selection of components... interesting blendable oscillators, great filter... what's going to break first?
- a mate has already ordered this and the moog clone. effing bargains, no mistakehans_glib
- this Nick Batt presenter is classic uk music shop guy...shapesalad
- Should be pretty good, but the "what's gonna break 1st" comment is real. A lot of eurorack is built with the mindset of quality without $$$ concerns.section_014
- osc sync! oh how i missed you.
my coworker naysays, but behringer's image will change greatly in next few yearsfuturefood - at least they made it look like a 300 quid synth with that shitty wave pattern. "we can't make it look too good, people will expect it to work..."kingsteven
- I am just waiting for the model D to finally be in stock...prophetone
- if they put the patch bay on the right the least they could do would be to color code them to the knobs.cannonball1978
- why do you need colour coding when you can have a 90s rave flyer explosionprophetone
- hahah, why do I even need a synth when DJ Hyper Justie and Sonic B are playing every night this week at the Forum. 300 quid better spent on eccies!kingsteven
- Literally every behringer gear I have ever purchased have needed returning due to failure under warranty.. I’m talking at least 6-7 timesautoflavour
- It’s cheap for a reasonautoflavour
- yep, i have a bunch of that behringer rack gear too. they are 100 quid yearly consumables. been through 3 graphics in 10 years. 2 headphone amps etc.kingsteven
- develop a fault in the first year but will keep working in retard mode until you replace it. rehearsal room PA is frankenstein's rack of half working beh units.kingsteven
- a good graphic costs > 350 probably costs 250 to manufacture, test etc. Behringer are popping theres out for 30 quid a pop with no QC, let them fail in use...kingsteven
- imagine 90% fail in 3 years... only 10% are returned under warranty - chuck it in the trash send them another. laughing all the way to the bank.kingsteven

- kewl. at a glance thought it was written by Suzanne. she's a pretty awesome modular-mad lady.microkorg
- love ciani, was a bit miffed as she's (in terms of modular) strictly used buchla systems. but i guess that just means there's a buchla chapter!kingsteven
- CGN0
- every time I work with my fellow Modular nerds in the studio, everything we produce sounds like this.. exactly.autoflavour
- might be a fun indulgence, but expensive hobby - just how many records/tours of modular indulgence sell?shapesalad
- if you blindfolded me and told me that was made on a novation circuit i would have 1. believed it and 2. been slightly more impressed.kingsteven
- a lot of skill in this tbh, i've done it myself on big systems - it takes a lot of effort to be this boring on eurorack. i just use mine for weird noises!kingsteven

Hah, thought this was an April fools joke but nope, Monopoly skinned mono/poly app is a thing:
Does anyone have this and know how it compares to the antiquated Korg legacy plugin? (which sounds pretty shitty by todays standards but I still use quite a bit) really should have bought a real one when they were £450.

I read somewhere that Guitar Center in the USA will likely go tits-up this year as kids arent buying guitars anymore they are buying synths.
- I think it relates more to the fact that people are buying online instead of stores. Plenty of kids play guitar.section_014

As someone who is in love with the Roland System 100M and has avoided the black hole that is eurorack modular... this is going to be a problem for me...
$100 a pop?!! http://www.factmag.com/2018/04/1…
- yes, share your problem here, let me share the burden...keewee
- correction... $50-100 a pop! and i can’t even get my hands on a model d yet... damn you behringer!prophetone
- damn! half my system is frequency central 100m clones, they cost about the same but i had to build them myself :-|kingsteven
- Will there be a case too? Doepfer's LC9 is the cheapest, reliable case. It's $460.section_014

Any Digitakters on QBN?
Just about to bite and get one. I want something that I can jam with away from a computer and make decent and usable loops or full tunes that I can play live or take into Ableton Live for final compositions.
Had a buzz on a mates Digitakt and it's a lot of fun. It reminds me a lot of the OP-1 (which I hugely regret selling a few years ago) in the sense you end up doing things you'd never do on other devices/platforms. The trig functions are also bloody awesome.
The Digitakt has been a real success for Elektron, seemingly it sold more units in its first year than they have ever sold of the Octatrack!
The only real bugbear about it is that Elektron havent released the version of Overbridge that supports all their new devices.
- no, but am balls deep with the octatrack, rhym, analog4 and machine drum .. I'm sure the digitakt and digitone do look funautoflavour
- Elektron just added an awesome master compressor and sidechaining ability to the Digitakt. Want one even more now!microkorg

- ... and is maybe using the money to help further his company into plugin development?microkorg
- DSP stuff has been on my todo list for a while. Wrote a couple little sequencing bits in Juce, but nothing polished.section_014
- I've been meaning to start learning Juce. Any good resources out there?ltjohnrambo

Most already sold but neat vid of his classic gear - that Jupiter 6 was previously Beltram's, so cool

at the mo i run reason and logic on an old g5 mac, with a couple of external synths going into an old tascam 4 track (used purely as a mixer) then into the mac via an imic(!) and a midiport 2x2 for the midi in / out to the external keyboard(s).
it's all extremely clunky but it works. just.
forgive a stupid/noob questine, but what would a better solution be for the audio and midi in/outs?
- i have an 18 input audio interface, ditched the mixer a long time a go and run most things straight in. it has midi I/O but i have a few usb midi interfaces sokingsteven
- I tend to wack them in a usb hub use them 1 port per synth now rather than fucking around with channels, thrus, splits, mergers. I'm too old for that shit!!!kingsteven
- your setup sounds grand btw. i know people making great music with less.kingsteven
- what do you reckon to the behringer firepower or whatever it's called. looks quite cheap and cheerful.hans_glib
- i'm with you on the midi - it does my head inhans_glib
- I picked up a second hand Digi003 for about $300.. thing is rock solid.. more inputs and outputs than you needautoflavour
- what - the rack mounted box, or the mixer? does it need protools to work?hans_glib
- no idea about the behringer, auto makes a good point. i got my focusrite 18i20 for not much more than that and a friend gave me an old apogee A/Dkingsteven
- you might be able to snap up some bargains if you plan on sticking with the g5 for a while as a lot of pro gear didn't get updated drivers...kingsteven
- rack mount, just download the core audio drives and you can use it with whatever you want.. I run Ableton and dont even have protools installedautoflavour
- thx for the tip. plenty of similar stuff out there on fleabayhans_glib

I have an affinity for gimmick hardware it would seem.
now I want this thing...

analog with proper jacks
- this will sell like crazyinteliboy
- I don’t care, I need thisautoflavour
- stupid thing is, I think 808's are totally overrated.. but still, I am a gear whore and this must be ownedautoflavour
- Behringer are making all the gear we want other manufacturers to re-release. It's genius!microkorg
- i mean all this synth stuff is designed by Midas in England right? almost a shame Uli loves slapping his name on synths.kingsteven
- oh mannnn, behringer you're killing me! haha... I was seriously considering the tr-08 but looks like I will be patiently waiting for this beastprophetone
- Ugghh I was gonna get a Nava 909 clone, but now it looks like I might have to wait for the RD 909ltjohnrambo
- its not where its designed, its where its made.. and sadly Behringer has a terrible track record of using budget manufacturers in China for everythingautoflavour
- i totally agree about the unreliability but when i've looked in to failures in rack units it's been down to circuit design... nothing physically wrong...kingsteven
- i imagine the midas designed circuits wouldn't be subject to the same cost-cutting. so if they do turn out to be more reliable it's a shame they have to usekingsteven
- a brand synonymous with cheap but unreliable gear.kingsteven
