6. A novel way to show your love
Found in: 1 Kings 18:25-27
Before Byron, before Casanova, there was David. Young and in love, David desperately wants to marry Saul’s daughter Michal and offers Saul anything he wants to let him marry her. What could Saul possibly want? Money? A vow of love? No. Saul wants foreskins. 100 to be exact. Why? Who cares. If you want my daughter, you’re going to have to find 100 foreskins by tomorrow. David finds this odd, but then again this girl is hot, so he goes out and kills 200 men, and collects their foreskins. It’s only then he remembers that he only needs 100 foreskins. Oops. Oh well, maybe if he hands over twice as many foreskins, Saul will be doubly as impressed. Indeed he is and duly hands over his daughter to David.
The moral of this story? Never be ashamed to do crazy things for love.

in regards to your comment mono....it's easy for anyone to copy/paste a bunch of apparent Bible contradictions without doing any real homework. Why do you suppose the burden should be on me to do all the research? If you actually read the Bible through, 90% of these "contradictions" would be reveal themselves to you. But you will not take the time to do your due diligence before arriving at such conlclusions. Instead you rely on the commentary of others (who probably haven't read the Bible thoroughly either)
I'll admit openly I don't have the answers to all these off the top of my head. I wouldn't mind answering a few, but I'm not going to sit in here and take my entire work day to answer these questions.- I didn't post the contradictions, you fucking assholemonospaced
- so you haven't read the bible through then?louiee
- Yes I have, does that mean I should have the entire thing memorized?designbot
- No they wouldn't most of these are obtuse, nonsensical, and ridiculous in their exiting context.Mimio
- You wont sit and answer questions when u base your whole life on this stuff??whendog
- seriously mono, my bad. I just mixed up names :)designbot
- whendogg, trust me I do ALOT of reading. I would be curious to know if you came to your conclusions by your own research?designbot
- research and studying?designbot

Rape and foreskin collecting. What possible good context could this possibly have? It all sounds pretty deviant.
- designbot0
haha that is actually kind of funny, sorry mono I that was directed at miko in regards to this comment:
"Every single time someone posts a biblical verse or reference, demonstrating that there are inconsistencies or downright unpleasantness in the bible, you lot always jump up and down and claim that the verse has been taken "out of context", without ever, ever, ever giving the 'proper' context for whatever it is that has been quoted.
Do so NOW for the above passages, or stfu. "too many "m" names in here.

Am I the only one that lives in a neighborhood where the people that get dressed up and head out on Sunday morning are the same ones that volunteer at the food pantry or organize community events or share a beer with you while talking about music? I'd say it's a pretty small percentage of religious folks that are fanatics.
- right...i've brought this up buthave learned to keep away from these threadslazerbass
- My lutheran neighbor is an awesome dude.DrBombay
- Your point here is exactly why I wonder why some christians feel threatened when people make fun of Jesus Camp.DrBombay
- You guys get it exactly. I just like to occasionally point out that most of these discussions are focused on nut-jobs...blaw
- ...not the day-to-day folks with a spiritual connection. And the good doctor knows I think he's a bad-ass dude. :Dblaw
- zenmasterfoo0
how about this for brainwashing?
- ukit0
blaw has a good point, it's not a matter of being a bad person or anything.
Although there is the question of war/ terrorism/ bigotry etc on the flip side of the coin...
I just wonder if you met someone who believed magical space ponies controlled the world in a secret society, would you give them the same level of deference... because Christianity is no more or less true or credible in my judgement.
- i don't see what magical space monkies has to do with living a good life with community and family though. thats not the point at all of any religion.lazerbass
- point of any of the major religions in the world.lazerbass
- sry magical space *ponies. These fantasical beliefs arn't about life/death and morality.lazerbass
- It has nothing to do with it which is why belief in that stuff isn't necessaryukit
- that attitude is meant to trivialise the reality and goodness of religious life though. besides the point.lazerbass
- you don't need weird beleifs to understand that Jesus's message was to live a good life and respect your neighborlazerbass
- so was muhammad's message peace a real and sencer gift to this world...but then propgandists like to spred ignorancelazerbass
- ignorance.lazerbass
- ..and the good Samaritan wasn't a Christian, either..mikotondria3

Let me answer a quick Bible "contradiction" as posted by whendog
"GE 1:24-27 Animals were created before man was created.
GE 2:7, 19 Man was created before animals were created."Reading on from Genesis 1:24 God created animals first, then created Adam, then took a rest. Genesis 2:18 is the lead up to the creation of Eve. Genesis 2:19 in NIV quotes "Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all of beasts of the field..." the key word here is the fifth one, "had". Translated as accurate as possible from Hebrew it is the recapping that it was God who created the animals. This is a reiteration of what was already written earlier in Genesis.
Make sense? All these questions can be answered, but I encourage you to seek on your own. If there was more time in the day I would do it for you :)
- DrBombay0
Dude, millions of species of bugs were not created in a week. I know that wasn't your point but be for real, man.
- designbot0
huh? you keep bringing this up, I guess I am failing to see your point Dr.b?
- DrBombay0
Point is you are nuancing the use of the word "had" in a bible passage... Give it a rest man and believe what you like... Stop trying to prove it. Your God wouldn't like that.
- I'm not trying to prove anything. I am simply defending what I know to be false.designbot
- By the use of the word "had"? In a document that has been handed down over millenia? Cmon man.DrBombay
- It may be hard for you to believe (it used to be for me) but there are evidences I base my faith on. And I don't mind defending them.designbot
- That isn't faith, homey.DrBombay
- Do you know that when they found the Dead Sea Scrolls (ancient Old testament pieces) that it bridged a gap of nearly 1,000 years of time?designbot
- 1,000 years of time in regards to the last recovered Bible document. What they found was virtually no change in the texts other than some minor spelling differences.designbot
- except for spelling difference. 1,000 years and the Old testament remained unchanged!designbot
- There are many evidences like this that I base my faith on.designbot
- SO the book stayed the same, not sure what that proves exactly. But again, stop trying to prove it. Just believe what ya like.DrBombay
- like.DrBombay
- Trust me Dr.B, it is out of complete humility that I type these things.designbot

well, they deleted the "obama healthcare logo" thread...how long until this one's gone too?

Justin 4:20
20"For They so loved the herb that he gave his very group of friends Stoners,[a] that whoever believes in it shall not be sad but have eternal munchies.
- BenWeeks0
I am a christian, but this stuff makes me sad. It's called preaching to the converted. Emotionally manipulating a bunch of christian kids in the long term isn't going to prepare them for the challenges of life.
- lazerbass0
I wouldn't take the context of the documentary out of the discussion considering it was definitely produced with the intention of making them look nuts to begin with.
- Mimio0
I like when the bible talks about uncircumcised lips and hearts.
