Couple dies of COVID, leaving 5 kids behind

Davy Macias, 37, was intubated and dying of complications from COVID-19 when doctors helped her give birth to her daughter. She would never see the baby.

Her husband, Daniel Macias, 39, would only get a brief glimpse of their child because he, too, was hospitalized after contracting the virus. According to Davy's sister-in-law, Terri Serey, Daniel waited to name the baby girl because he believed he and his wife would walk out of the hospital alive to introduce the newborn to their four other children, the eldest age 7 and the youngest, 2.

My best friend's parents (50yrs+) contracted covid from a small gathering. They were hospitalized for a few days each and recovered. Neither were vaxed and now they want to be. Two others from that same gathering died.

Had a meeting in a basement bar in the centre of town today about doing a painting there. It's pretty cramped and is usually frequented by a younger crowd of students in the evenings.
The bar manager was saying he often has to cover shifts of staff that have had covid, but keep getting chest infections since they've recovered.
He also mentioned that a 31 year old member of staff died from it.

Good news is, the bar is getting busy, busy, busy again.

Down at the post office the other day there were two thirty to forty-something thick as shit-looking dipshits talking absolute rubbish - i mean, just like stupid, barely coherent fuckwit crap. Mind numbing, neuron-decimating effluent.

One of them had a Gameboy backpack - as in it looked like an old school gameboy. The screen was represented by those kids things that allow you to draw something, then you pull the plastic side down and it erases it - you know what I mean? I don't know what they're called.

Anyway, on it he had scrawled some Globalist Agenda paranoic bilge about Covid being fake and a conspiracy.

These are the sort of people representing the bulk of the anti-vax brigade and its output on the internet. People that don't even have fucking a brace of GCSEs to rub together.

    • This is painful for me, as I've often had a slight tendency to consider the conspirational side of things, but the people are morons.Nairn

So tired of the debate. Everyone has a choice. So if you choose no vaccine and you have no underlying health reason etc. as a reason, that's your prerogative.

But fuck it if you want to clog up ICUs because you made that choice. Fuck it if you drag down society, lengthen lock downs, contribute to the strangling of more small businesses.

Your body, your choice. But if you need to be hospitalized, you get a cot in a field hospital and you can slowly suffocate on your body fluids. Your choice. Because unlike earlier in the pandemic, you have a choice. So you can live with it, and let us move on.

If you're in the US, without nationalized care, I'd be wondering when insurance companies will start requiring the vaccine to maintain coverage.

    • sure, lets make this bet, but fuck off from vaccine mandates or my 6 year old being forced to wear mask in school.pr2
    • ^ no longer required in the UK since may because 85% of adults are fully vaccinated. 2 kids in my niece's class had it this week, classes continuekingsteven
    • Vaccines haven’t been mandated by anyone except by employers.monospaced
  • ETM1

Oh and FFS, the conspiracy people who talk about Gates and others in regard to the idea that vaccines can control population... yeah, but for a very simple reason. In developing nations, it's been shown that when parents have access to 2 things, birth control and health care (including vaccines), they stop having so many kids, because those kids don't keep dying from basic things. They can have 3 kids instead of 8. So that's how vaccines control population. Almost logical and far simpler than microchips or global conspiracies.

I generally avoid contributing here as it's so toxic, so please flame away. Not sure I'll even check the responses.

What has covid rapidly brought to the humans of the world?

Paul Garner, professor at LSTM in UK, recovered from long covid and went on to say that the disease is not permanent.

"I did this by listening to people that have recovered from CFS/ME, not people that are still unwell." "I believe that we can unwittingly reinforce, as Pavlov has shown, the dysfunctional autonomic tracks in the brain set up by a virus long gone."

He immediately started getting death threats from CFS/ME/long covid advocacy groups, people tried to have him removed from his position etc.

People using illness/allergies/intolerances as identity, self-diagnosed mental patients, teenagers faking Tourette tics are the new minorities. The concept is the same: Declaring yourself vulnerable, gives you power. Of course they protest if you take it away from them.

The diseases are real, but people who fake/pimp their illness/minority for empathy are the most loathsome people in the world, making it very difficult to navigate in this swamp.
